Key Verse:
Genesis 39:21 (NKJV)
But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers, falsely accused by his master’s wife and thrown into prison for a crime he did not commit. Yet through it all God was with him.
I. When God Is With Us We Dream Impossible Dreams!
Genesis 37:5-7 (ESV)
5 Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. 6 So he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: 7 There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.”
At the time of Joseph’s dream, it would have seemed impossible that he would one day be a great ruler second only to Pharaoh. Joseph had faith in God and knew that the impossible was achievable by the “Great ‘I Am’”.
Luke 1:37
For with God nothing will be impossible.”
When God puts a dream in your heart, it will be impossible for you to make it come true. He must make it happen! When you pursue your dreams from God and tell others about them, many will oppose you and try to discourage you!
II. When God Is With Us We Succeed Even When The Odds Are Against Us.
Genesis 39:2-3 (ESV)
2 The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand.
When we obeying God, everything we are involved in becomes a blessing to ourselves and others! The odds might be against us, the outlook might seem bleak, but with God we will succeed!
Romans 8:31
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
III. When God Is With Us Our Adversities Become Blessings!
Genesis 50:19-20 (ESV)
19 Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? 20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
With God, one person’s troubles can lead to another person’s blessing! We should pray and ask God concerning our adversities, and how He can use them to bless others! Satan wants to use your pain, your enemies and your troubles to hurt you and others. But God can turn them into blessings!
Romans 8:28 (ESV)
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
We must have dreams in order to have them fulfilled. Ask God today to fill your heart with a dream from Him! Don’t look at the odds, look at your GOD! Embrace your adversities, turn them over to God and allow Him to work them for His good!
