What is Salvation?

Salvation is a personal choice you make in your heart to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life. Some people think they have to “clean-up” their life first in order to come to Christ and be Saved. This is not true, but you must repent or turn away from your sins. Repentance begins in a person’s heart. Jesus accepts you as you are right now and it is He who will do the “cleaning-up”. After accepting Jesus, the Holy Spirit will come into your heart and begin to work in your life.

1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

In Isa. 1:18, we learn that God promises to forgive us all our sins even if they are red as crimson and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.”

Without Jesus we cannot be Saved and live with God for all of Eternity. That’s because God requires us to be perfect in order to be in His presence. There is no one who is perfect, we have all sinned;

Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one”

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

God sent His Son Jesus, to live a perfect and sinless life. Jesus then took on our punishment of sin, the punishment is death! When we accept Jesus as our Savior, God see His Son’s Righteousness and not our sin. It’s through Jesus that we can be with God.

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Say this prayer to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior:

Lord Jesus, forgive me all of my sins.
I believe you died on the cross for me.
I repent of my sins and I accept you as my personal Lord and Savior.
I open the door of my heart and invite you to come in.
Wash and cleanse me of all unrighteousness.
I turn my back on sin and I want to follow you for the rest of my life.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen”
