Key Verse:
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NKJV)
8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—
God does not promise us that we will have it easy as Christians, but He does promise that He will be with us through everything and everyone who comes up against us. We must hold on to HIM!
I. As Christians We Can Endure Because: The Victory Has Already Been Delivered.
1 Corinthians 15:57 (NKJV)
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Christians can STOP waiting for their “ship to come in”, its already arrived! Jesus gives us the victory over Sin and it’s consequence which is death. To many Christians live a defeated life because they do NOT acknowledge the victory they have in Christ!
2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
II. As Christians We Can Endure Because: God is More Powerful Than The World Against Us.
John 16:33 (NKJV)
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Being a Christian does NOT exempt you from troubles, but it does provide you with a Helper to get you through them. The Holy Spirit reminds us of God’s Word and when we heed Him and apply it to our lives and to others, we have victory!
John 14:26 (NKJV)
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV)
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
III. As Christians We Can Endure Because: We Have ETERNAL Blessings Awaiting Us.
Matthew 6:19-21 (NKJV)
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
A Christians treasure is NOT of this world. Our treasure is in Christ Jesus. Whatever we treasure in our lives, our hearts will be devoted to. If we treasure Christ, our lives will reflect Him. We must hold on to the promises God has made us in His Word. We must hold on to the power we have in Christ! We must hold on to the treasure we have been given, that being the very Son of God, Jesus!
