“The Message” refers to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. People must hear about something in order know about something. Furthermore, we must know about something before we can believe in it. The more we hear about Jesus, the more we know about Him. As our knowledge grows about Him so should our faith in Him grow.
I. We must HEAR the Message.
Romans 10:17 NIV
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message,
Many people have been told the message of Christ, but not all hear the message!
Mark 4:12 NIV
so that, “‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’”
II. There Must Be Messengers for the Message to be Heard.
Romans 10:14 NIV
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
Jesus came to preach the Good News which is The Message of Salvation.
Luke 4:43 NIV
But he said, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”
Jesus is the very essence of The Message. We are to tell about Him to everyone we come into contact with just as He did.
III. We Are Commanded to Proclaim the Gospel of Christ.
Mark 16:15 NIV
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.
Christians should be excited that they are Saved through Jesus. When we are excited about something we want to share our joy with others by telling them the Good News. Christians not only have the responsibility to tell The Message, but also the authority and power of God Himself to proclaim it!
Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 5:14 NIV
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
In order to fulfill the Great Commission, we need to have Faith in God through Jesus Christ. God is the true Messenger We are His vessels. As His messengers we need to pray for Him to bring us in contact with those who need to hear and that He will open their hearts to receive.
